Our previous blog focused on simple ways to grab your audience’s attention. Here we cover how ou can increase view of existing content.
Transcribe Your Videos
This is a great way to increase viewing accessibility for incredibly cheap. For instance, full machine translation through the AWS API is a mere $.0004 on the second. We tested the accuracy and averaged around 95% which is certainly good enough for most cases. Want to do your own captions? If you are on YouTube all you need to do is upload a document with the dialogue lines and Google’s ASR (automatic speech recognition) algorithm will automatically time the lines with the video – making the process a breeze (especially since most content creators start with a script).
Embed On Your Site
One of the things YouTube can do that Facebook (so far) cannot is letting you embed videos other places besides the host site. This can be useful for a myriad of reasons. Embedded video is one of the things Google’s algorithms look for when deciding whether or not to rank your site highly in their search results. Additionally, you can promote your videos on your site by posting a blog to alert people whenever there’s a new one. There are probably a few subscribers to your blog who don’t also subscribe to your YouTube channel, so this is a great way of making sure everyone sees your content. And by embedding the video in the blog directly, they can watch without having to click over to another site (which many people find annoying), while still getting the views on YouTube.
Socialize For Maximum Impact
This is a point that must be emphasized. Too much great content gets lost in the overwhelming amount of social noise. To ensure that your content is getting maximum exposure: create a social calendar. The basic rules for the same piece of content are:
- New Content (first week)
- Twitter: every hour for the first day, then once a day
- Facebook: 2 times a week
- LinkedIN: 3 times a week
- Instagram: Once
- Old Content (after first week)
- Twitter: 3 times a week
- Facebook: once a week
- LinkedIN: once a week
- Instagram: promote original post once a week
There are plenty of tools that facilitate the social calendar process, but just a plain old excel sheet works too! Here’s an example of our old social calendar:
Upload Natively To Respective Platform
Facebook deserves special mention, particularly with regards to how you promote your videos. For the last couple of years, Facebook has been working to brand itself as a source for video content. Because of this, their algorithms increase the visibility to your followers of videos uploaded directly to Facebook, and decrease the visibility of links to external site. This means that if you try to promote your video by simply posting a YouTube link on your page, it will reach fewer followers than if you upload the video to Facebook directly. Again, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t upload your videos to YouTube as well. It’s still the most popular video hosting platform there is, and provides a lot of benefits that Facebook doesn’t. But when promoting your videos on Facebook, a native video will do better than a link will in most cases. This also holds true (for the most part) for twitter.
Leverage Your Personal Social Network
Paid promotions are a great way to rapidly increase reach – but what if there was a free way to do this (with some added benefits)? If you can reach out to co-workers or family/friends (if you run a small business) to share and socialize content, do it! This typically brings in higher quality leads as paid promotions have the tendency to yield some bots. Bots are annoying because they inflate engagement and reach metrics but offer zero lead prospects. It’s nice knowing that when you share content through connected social circles – you are almost certainly getting real eyeballs on it. All this for the low price of free!
These are just some of the ways you can effectively promote your brand using video marketing. With a little effort and a little ingenuity, your video content can boost your audience, generate more leads, and help you convert those leads to sales and revenue. How will you use video marketing to promote your brand?
